Why You Would Be Lucky to Intern at Chikmedia

Meghan Rothschild is as fierce as her company claims. An incredible mentor and well-connected businesswoman, Meghan has established herself as a community leader and fostered a professional network that many dream of. Joining her team was one of the best decisions I’ve made and has increased my skills and confidence as a young professional in the fast paced world of marketing and PR. My time with Chikmedia was indispensible to my personal growth and enhancement as a social media marketer. 

Here’s why:
As a “boss” Meghan was ideal. Not one to micromanage, Meghan gave me creative license over the social media accounts I ran and empowered me by letting me manage my own client. I was treated as a smart, capable adult from the moment the internship began and I was given fair pay and flexible hours; learning the ropes however, wasn’t easy.
Every day my job was to make sure the social media accounts I was in charge of were fresh and relevant and that my client was taken care of and happy.  It was up to me to check in with Meghan, schedule weekly check –in’s with our clients, and attend networking and promotional events when my schedule allowed.  Being thrown into her world and having to learn on the go was very nerve-racking at first because I was so scared of making a mistake. It didn’t take too long for me to slip up, but when I did, Meghan was always supportive and never let me feel like a failure. She knew in order to grow I would need to feel things out for myself, and after my 6-month journey I was sad to go.

Over the course of my time with Chikmedia I learned how to:
-Actively manage multiple social media accounts at once
-Manage my own client and complete the daily tasks that were asked of me, which included:
-Updating client’s website press page and Facebook page
-Scheduling posts weeks in advance
-Locate upcoming speaker and press opportunities
-Write press releases and media advisories
-Suggest relevant blog posts while keeping client on track with deadlines
-Navigate the analytics and insights provided by Facebook and tailor posts to the individual needs and goals of each client.
-Assist in the production of a wedding giveaway, a mass charity event that involved networking with businesses all over Springfield

By the time I left Chikmedia, I felt confident in my skills and abilities as a social media marketer and even had a taste of the glamorous side of the PR/Marketing world! Due to Meghan’s generosity, I was featured in a promotional video by SkinCatering, treated to a beautiful luncheon, and gifted with free SkinCatering products!

I had so much fun working for Meghan and left feeling like a valued friend. For anyone looking to intern at Chikmedia, I highly recommend sending her your resume.
