7/10/2022 Featured Chik: Becky ParkerGet ready to meet one of the North Shore's biggest hype chiks - Miss Becky Parker of B You Fitness. Becky is a Health & Wellness Coach focused on helping moms find their worth. Tell us a bit about your company! What do you do? What is your mission? I am a Virtual health and wellness coach who is obsessed with helping other moms FEEL their worth by establishing healthy habits in the movement, mindset & nutrition departments. I support my challengers in person (fitness classes and 1 on 1 sessions) and virtually through my online community where I show up daily (tips, tricks, recipes & challenges) with an added level of accountability that tends to be the game changer in ladies' progress. My mission is to remind moms of WHO they are, WHY it's important to take care of ourselves and most importantly that we are WORTHY of whatever it is we're looking to achieve in this short but wonderful life. How did you get started with your business? What made you decide to join this industry? I took my first pilates class after my first was born and I was HOOKED. The energy in the studio, the HIGH I felt after moving my body made me feel like MYSELF for the first time since becoming a new mom - I had NO idea HOW or through what avenue BUT I knew fitness was going to play a bigger role in my life. I started teaching while working in Corporate America (advertising) and with the support of my husband quit to stay home with my daughter and focus on Pilates and dive deeper into fitness. It was at this time that the "Coaching" opportunity was presented to me - It allowed me to do what I was doing in studio BUT in a grander scheme and work with people who weren't local to me. What does it mean to you to be a small business owner on the North Shore? I've lived here my entire life - it's a community and I truly believe you get what you put into it. As a new mom I literally didn't know how to get out of the house with a baby, nevermind interact with other moms. I lost myself for a bit. To know that I can help local ladies THRIVE in motherhood while also impacting their health longterm is such a blessing. What is your favorite part of being a business owner? Being able to create my own schedule. I have done the 9-5 (which was more like a 6-10 if we're being honest). I am a hustler - Always have been, and working for myself allows me to be in a season of push when I need to, and also scale back when I need to. You never understand HOW AMAZING it is to have this flexibility until you have a sick kid or want to go on vacation and I don't have to run it by anyone. When you were growing up, what is your ultimate dream job? If it's this, how does it feel to have met your dream?! If it was something different, how did your dream change over time? I wanted to be a Radio DJ. My first internship was at Magic 106.7 in the promotions department. I learned SO MUCH about the industry and made connections that would eventually open some big doors for me. I also learned although I am QUITE outgoing I was a LOT better behind the scenes. Made the jump to tv buying at the national level and then online where I stayed for the reminder of my time in Corporate America. I think subconsciously I wanted to impact people for the better and I always remembered driving in the car with my parents and laughing with the local DJs. I still have that desire just utilizing social media and online in a different way. I show up through my social media and blog to hopefully inspire people to move and love themselves enough to work on themselves - not just physically but mentally as well - journalling, manifesting and an end of day gratitude journal are some of my favs. Every business owner faces challenges. How are you empowered to overcome yours? I think "Coaches" get a bad rap sometimes because there is a LARGE spectrum of people (some qualified and some not so much) using this term. This doesn't deter me from sharing what I do it makes me want to scream it from the rooftops because I want to show people HOW AMAZING this opportunity is and how I am not just a run of the mill coach. I keep it real, I am honest to a fault, I am annoyingly sarcastic and we will have some fun BUT I will also 100% keep it real with what it takes to get you towards your goals. Tell us (in one word) how you would describe your bosschik business! REAL Anything else we should know about you, your business, or just a fun fact?! I never missed a day of school in highschool - like in all 4 years. That's the level of consistency I bring to the table in ANYTHING I do. Where you can find her: Website | Instagram | Facebook
