Welcome to chikmedia Rachel!

Hello everyone!

As you all saw in Audrey's last blog post her time at chikmedia has ended.  There has been a change of guard and you all get a new intern, me, Rachel McCarthy.  I'm very excited to work with Meghan, Emily, and all of you!  I'll be helping chikmedia out with their social media needs, blog posts, and anything else they need me do.

I applied to intern at chikmedia for two main reasons: they were willing to teach me the PR skills that I desperately want to learn and, more importantly, because looking at their website I was inspired.  I came across their website and was instantly struck by how they seemed to balance professionalism with taking joy in their work.  As I read more, I realized that this was obviously a company run on passion.  A small marketing and PR start-up focusing on women-led business?  Unusual, I thought, but so genuine.  They seemed so invested while providing that almost unheard of element of fun.  I took a chance and applied and they accepted.

I bring an academic background of Environmental Science and Women's Studies to chikmedia, along with a personal background of managing political campaigns and world travel.  I also hope to bring the same level of dedication and fun that Meghan and Emily already give you.  I'm so grateful to be joining this team and I can't wait to start working with all of you!
